Seventh-generation salt makers Nancy Bruns and Lewis Payne hand-harvest small-batch finishing salt from an ancient Iapetus Ocean brine aquifer beneath West Virginia’s Appalachian Mountains. On their family’s 200-year-old farm in Malden, solar evaporation, mountain breezes, and hand-crafted wooden rakes shape the crystals without additives or anti-caking agents. J.Q. Dickinson Salt-Works is family-owned and also welcomes visitors to its historic salt farm.
