Keyes Creamery carries a family dairy dream that began in Harford County in 1950 into a Churchville creamery making weekly small-batch ice cream and fresh cheese. Opened as a storefront in 2013, the family-run business hand-dips its ice cream and works with locally sourced milk, while its products reach farm markets and events across the region. Although the family’s dairy herd ended with the 2023 sale of Mt. Felix Farm, Keyes continues its farming tradition and local food business through the next generation.
Woodside Farm CreamerySince the Mitchell family established Woodside Farm in 1796, it has remained a family-owned agricultural operation; today, Woodside Farm Creamery makes fresh homemade ice cream on the farm using milk from its herd of more than 30 Jersey cows. Birchrun Hills FarmBirchrun Hills Farm is a first-generation, family-owned dairy farm and on-site creamery where the Miller family turns milk from its herd of about 80 Holstein cows into handcrafted cheese. In northern Chester County, Ken and Sue Miller work alongside their sons Randy and Jesse, growing much of the herd’s feed and aging cheeses in underground caves.
