From Midland, Texas, Kristin Marie Bachmann creates sculptural works and installations that explore the sacred through weaving and woodworking. A former energy-sector private equity lawyer who became an artist in 2016, she develops her work through a rigorous physical process shaped by early ballet training and a theater upbringing. Bachmann lives and works in Texas, and her recent solo exhibitions include Sacred Space and the At the Still Point series in Houston.

  Hot Mud StudioFrom her basement studio in Kingston, Susan Whelan creates one-of-a-kind ceramic art, including commissioned pieces for homes and important milestones. Whelan found clay in her fortieth year after studying fashion design, and her work often follows the medium’s transformation from wet earth to durable, colorful art. • Pam Pawl TextilesFrom her Dunedin studio, artist and textile educator Pam Pawl creates limited-edition handwoven scarves, wraps, throws and interior accessories, using hand-dyed yarns and multi-harness loom structures to bring color and pattern together. Pawl’s textile practice grew from a farm upbringing with sheep and a spinning wheel, formal study in textile design, and more than a decade maintaining a Philadelphia weaving studio.
