Spun out of the University of Tartu in August 2020, LightCode Photonics develops direct Time-of-Flight 3D cameras that help robots and autonomous vehicles perceive their surroundings. Its compact, solid-state sensors use single-photon measurement and are designed for reliable operation across indoor and outdoor conditions, including safety-focused applications. The Tartu team has grown to 20 people, including PhDs in photonics and physics, and has worked with technology companies and the European Space Agency.
