Founded in 1996 by Uruguayan-born Jorge Manzanares, Manzanares Furniture Corp. grew from his experience as a master cutter at Donghia into a Long Island City workroom for made-to-specification furniture. Emily Nomer, a former Donghia vice president of operations, joined the company in 1998, and together they serve the interior design community through custom work for designers and architects.
SOMA Millwork & DesignSOMA began in 1999, when Clive Corfield and David Rootman started making furniture in Rootman’s garage. The Burnaby company has since grown into a nearly 12,000-square-foot shop, where a network of craftspeople develops custom work for residential and commercial clients.
