Based in Anand, Gujarat, the National Dairy Development Board supports farmer-owned dairy institutions through cooperative development, finance, technical assistance and dairy-sector engineering. Its work ranges from strengthening milk-producer organisations to developing processing infrastructure and product technologies, while its programmes have helped make dairying a viable livelihood for millions of Indian milk producers. NDDB also created the Quality Mark, launched in 2016 for dairy products and in 2018 for cattle feed, to encourage food safety and consistent quality across the cooperative value chain.
