A sixth-generation western New York farm became the home of New York Craft Malt when fourth-generation farmer Ted Hawley founded the malthouse in 2012. Hawley built his own pneumatic malting system to bring a more controlled approach to making malt from regional grain, and the farm now supplies craft brewers and distillers while taking on specially specified work.
