Brooklyn-born PopWheels operates an e-bike battery-swapping network that lets delivery workers exchange depleted batteries for charged ones at public stations. Founded in New York City by bicycle-safety advocate Baruch Herzfeld and technology founder David Hammer, the company focuses on moving battery charging out of apartments and into fire-safe public infrastructure. Its Hudson Square site was announced as America’s first public battery-swapping hub and the first FDNY-official network of its kind.
