For 25 years, artist Soli Pierce has made hand-painted, hand-turned heirloom wooden bowls one by one in her studio on a quiet one-lane road. Sherwood Forest Design began as a young mother’s way to combine art, home and time with her son, and its bowls are now shipped around the world for everyday meals and shared gatherings.

Canterbury Woods CreationsAfter leaving a 12-year technology career, founder Francis Twomey turned an oak bed made for his new upstate New York home into Canterbury Woods Creations, a woodworking studio making handmade furniture and custom commissions. Working primarily with domestic hardwoods, Twomey builds one-of-a-kind pieces around a client’s dimensions, space, and ideas rather than producing for quantity. The family’s J&J Twomey Collection adds handmade boards and trays crafted by his parents, with a tree planted and a portion of proceeds donated to the American Heart Association for each board or tray sold.VESTAL, NY
Vicco von Voss Furniture DesignSince 1994, German-born artist and craftsman Vicco von Voss has worked on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, turning locally salvaged and fallen trees into one-of-a-kind contemporary furniture.
