Pittsburgh-based Simple Origin designs and manufactures precision cryogenic TEM specimen holders and related instrumentation for cryo-EM, materials research, and in-situ microscopy. Founded by engineers who began by solving specific laboratory problems, the company works closely with scientists to turn those needs into practical tools, including controlled-atmosphere transfer systems for air-sensitive samples. Simple Origin is also the exclusive North American representative for TVIPS TEM cameras and Bestron science and technology.
Electron Microscopy SciencesElectron Microscopy Sciences supplies the specialized tools and materials that clinicians and researchers use to prepare and examine specimens, with a particular focus on electron microscopy. Based in Morgantown, Pennsylvania, the company pairs a broad laboratory catalog with custom services, equipment repair, technical information and hands-on microscopy training through its affiliated Academy. Its own offerings include cryo-EM support products such as C-flat holey carbon grids and the Prepmaster automated specimen-processing system.325998HATFIELD, PA
Advanced Research Systems, IncFounded in 1986 by Ravi Bains, Advanced Research Systems designs and manufactures cryocoolers and laboratory cryogenic systems for low-temperature research. Working from Pennsylvania, the company is unusual among laboratory cryostat suppliers in making its own 4 K closed-cycle cryocoolers, allowing it to tailor complete systems for demanding experiments. ARS-built systems are exported to more than 50 countries and supported by the company’s own service staff.334516MACUNGIE, PA
Gatan, IncFor six decades, Gatan has made the cameras, energy filters, specimen-preparation equipment and software that help researchers see more through electron microscopy. The AMETEK company serves both transmission and scanning electron microscopy, with a particular focus on turning difficult materials and biological samples into usable imaging and analytical data. Its product-lifecycle guidance and factory service plans also support instruments well beyond their initial sale.WARRENDALE, PA
