Founded in 1977 as Ultran Laboratories, The Ultran Group develops ultrasonic transducers, inspection systems, and application solutions for nondestructive testing and medical therapy. The State College company pioneered non-contact ultrasound in the late 1990s, creating a way to transmit ultrasound through air for inspecting uncured materials and production-line parts without physical contact. Its later piezoelectric composite and phased-array developments support applications ranging from composite and battery-cell inspection to emerging medical treatments.
