Inspired by Pittsburgh’s Johnny “Appleseed” Chapman legend, Threadbare Cider + Mead has been making small-batch craft ciders and meads with local apples and honey since 2017. Its flagship Farmhouse cider, made with apples from Soergel Orchards using old-world production methods, won Best in Show and a Gold Medal at the 2025 Pennsylvania Farm Show Cider Competition. The Northside cidery also operates a cider house for private events and a bottle shop at Ross Park Mall.

Seek-No-Further Cider CoIn a historic white barn in downtown Granville, Seek-No-Further Cider Co. makes New England-style hard cider from heirloom apples sourced from small orchards in Ohio and across the Northeast. Founded in June 2021 by Trent Beers and cidermaker Garrett Huber, the cidery pairs Huber’s expertise in heirloom varieties with Beers’s background in branding and design. Space Time Mead & Cider WorksBorn from a home winemaker’s post-corporate reset, Space Time Mead & Cider Works opened its Dunmore urban winery in 2018 to make honey wine, cider, maple wine and other wines from Pennsylvania-harvested ingredients. Founder Dan Schreffler began making mead and cider as a hobby in 2008, and the small winery has since earned national and international competition recognition.
