Born from a home winemaker’s post-corporate reset, Space Time Mead & Cider Works opened its Dunmore urban winery in 2018 to make honey wine, cider, maple wine and other wines from Pennsylvania-harvested ingredients. Founder Dan Schreffler began making mead and cider as a hobby in 2008, and the small winery has since earned national and international competition recognition. In 2025, up-and-coming mead-makers Melody and Kyle Stout began taking over the business while Schreffler continues to guide its craft.

Fitzgibbon Meadery LLCBorn from the medieval-reenactment hobby of husband-and-wife team Eric and Misa McAnallen, Fitzgibbon Meadery makes honey-based meads and country fruit wines in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania. Founded as a licensed venture in 2019, it is Ellwood City’s only meadery, with Misa developing recipes and Eric creating the humorous labels that give the bottles their distinctive character. Established in 2015 as the Poconos’ first urban micro-winery and hard cidery, the business grew from home winemaking begun in 1998 and draws on winemaker Matthew Domenick’s more than 28 years of experience and Italian family winemaking traditions. Dutch Creek Winery & TaphouseA husband-and-wife team runs Dutch Creek Winery & Taphouse in the Athens countryside, making small-batch meads, fruit wines, Baron’s Reserve hard ciders and honey sodas on the same farm where they keep bees and grow an apple-peach-pear orchard. The winery’s honey wines use honey from its own hives, while the Baron’s Reserve name honors Swiss settler Baron Johann Rudolf de Steiguer, whose historic land includes the winery site. Threadbare Cider + MeadInspired by Pittsburgh’s Johnny “Appleseed” Chapman legend, Threadbare Cider + Mead has been making small-batch craft ciders and meads with local apples and honey since 2017. Its flagship Farmhouse cider, made with apples from Soergel Orchards using old-world production methods, won Best in Show and a Gold Medal at the 2025 Pennsylvania Farm Show Cider Competition.
