On a 6.7-acre hill outside Avondale, Va La Vineyards grows North Italian and French grape varieties and turns them into small-batch dry table wines. Family farmed and made in an old-world style by farmer-winemaker Anthony Vietri, the wines are shaped by four distinct vineyard soils and produced in very limited quantities. The fifth generation of the founding family now lives and works on the field, where tastings take place in a century-old barn.

Craig and Candice Bandy bought the farm in 2001 after Craig had spent more than 30 years making wine as a hobby, then sold their first bottle as a bonded West Virginia Farm Winery on July 4, 2008.
