Founded in 1983 as Design East by artists Emily Clark and Jon Millstein, Works in Progress NYC is an East Village print studio producing custom screen-printed apparel and fabric goods. The 501(c)(3) nonprofit uses its commercial printing work to support hands-on internships for New York City high school students, who learn the trade alongside graphic design, production, and customer-service skills. It also offers silk-screen classes and on-site printing events, extending its community-minded approach beyond the shop.
