Founded in 2022 by Isaac Zama, Asawana Farms is a Black-owned Southern Cameroonian/Ambazonian farm in Upper Marlboro growing organic African specialty vegetables for the Washington area. Part of the Watkins Park Incubator and a Maryland-certified Local Farm Enterprise, it also serves as a hands-on learning hub where students, families, and adults learn practical ways to grow food in small spaces while connecting African American communities with the Motherland through food.
