Since 2002, Cincinnati Computer Reuse has turned donated computers into affordable refurbished technology for Greater Cincinnati families, students, schools, and nonprofits. The 501(c)(3) nonprofit pairs secure reuse and responsible e-waste recycling with a practical community mission, placing working devices where they can support learning, employment, and connection. Volunteers have helped refurbish more than 15,800 computers and keep over 5.2 million pounds of equipment out of landfills.

Shift2Founded in Rochester in 2018 as The Shore Foundation, Shift2 refurbishes donated business technology and connects it with schools, nonprofits, and community members who need reliable computers. The nonprofit individually tests devices, securely erases their data, and responsibly recycles equipment that cannot be reused, giving corporate technology a second direction instead of sending it straight to a landfill. Shift2 marked its fifth anniversary in 2023 by adopting the name that captures its focus on second chances and digital connection.
RebootPC, IncStarted by Westchester County student Sam Nadol as a 2017 repair hobby, RebootPC, Inc. refurbished donated computers and redistributed them to people and organizations lacking access to technology. The 501(c)(3) nonprofit also kept usable equipment out of the waste stream, partnering with local towns and community groups before ceasing operations in 2026 and transferring its stock and supplies to Computers4People.
BuySPRYSince 2009, Gaithersburg-based BuySPRY has refurbished and sold electronic devices through its online storefronts and major marketplaces. Its in-house team uses automated testing, Phonecheck inspections and double quality control to return pre-owned phones, tablets and computers to reliable working condition.
