In Snow Hill, Fika Coffee Roasting is a small-batch artisan roastery and café, with all coffee roasted in-house and made to order. Family-run and veteran- and woman-owned, the business was founded by Molly and Elliott Ralph, whose shared coffee ritual and connection to organic farming inform its thoughtful sourcing and careful roasting. Fika also brings the Swedish tradition of pausing for coffee and conversation to its welcoming Eastern Shore café.

• Homestead Coffee RoastersFrom a 19th-century barn beside Pennsylvania’s Tow Path and the Delaware River, Homestead Coffee Roasters has been sourcing and roasting coffee since 2006. Now a second-generation coffee roaster, the family-run company works exclusively with small farms and cooperatives, refining its coffees through careful tasting while using recyclable boxes and backyard-compostable bags. It also supports wholesale partners with equipment, training, and ongoing coffee-program guidance.UPPER BLACK EDDY, PA
• Goldberry Roasting CompanyStarted by Doug Cooper as a basement hobby in 2010, Goldberry Roasting Company now produces small-batch specialty coffee at its family-owned roastery in Ashland, Ohio. Doug’s son Pete joined in 2019, turning the business into a family legacy built around carefully developed roast profiles and close relationships with coffee farmers, including partners in Mexico’s Sierra Norte region. Goldberry also works through its sister nonprofit, Coffee Growing Community, to help farming families improve the quality and market value of their coffee.ASHLAND, OH

Buffalo Coffee RoasteryOpened by Kate and Sean Edwards in 1994, Buffalo Coffee Roastery built its name as the first coffee house in the area to roast on site, using a 12-kilo San Franciscan roaster. Now a family-owned roastery in Sanborn, the company focuses on small-batch roasting for retail and wholesale customers, with more than 30 years of refining its craft. Its newer wellness-minded line includes mushroom-infused coffee made with certified organic coffee and American-grown mushrooms.BUFFALO, NY
• Idou Coffee CoFounded by Mikala and Mike Swanson in 2020, Idou Coffee Co. small-batch roasts coffee in the State College area and serves it through its coffee trailer, local partners, and online shop. The company pairs an accessible, exploratory approach to coffee with a farm-to-cup sourcing commitment, purchasing only Sweet Maria’s “Farm Gate” coffees, which the supplier says pay farmers at least 50% above Fair Trade minimums. Idou also shares practical guidance to help customers understand roast profiles and find coffee they enjoy.BOALSBURG, PA
