Founded by Joe and Andrea Lanich in 2010, Laughing Owl Press is a Kane, Pennsylvania letterpress shop that turns original designs into tactile, hand-printed work. The couple rescued antique Heidelberg and Chandler & Price presses from a basement near Philadelphia and built the business around preserving letterpress as a living craft. Today, their creative team prints for clients around the world while keeping the presses—and their roots in Kane—firmly in place.
Typothecary LetterpressIn Lancaster, Typothecary Letterpress combines graphic design with hands-on letterpress printing to make tactile paper pieces, from custom invitations to personalized photo mats. Owner, designer, and printer Megan works directly with clients throughout the process, using both modern and century-old technology in a studio furnished with vintage presses. Pineapple Press & Design LTDStarted in 2001 with a few drawers of type and a small proof press, Pineapple Press & Design creates graphic design and hand-printed letterpress work in Northwest Ohio. Its Toledo studio uses antique presses, movable lead and wood type, and hand-mixed ink to give contemporary pieces a distinctly tactile, personal character. The owner also teaches and mentors others in letterpress techniques, helping carry the craft into its next generation.
Paper Meets PressJust outside Philadelphia in Glenside, Paper Meets Press is a custom print shop built around tactile letterpress work, foil stamping, and embossing. The shop carries projects from completed files through finishing, producing pieces such as invitations and stationery on 10-by-15-inch Heidelberg presses.
