Founded in Pittsburgh in April 2022, Resilient Lifescience is developing a wearable medical device intended to detect and automatically reverse opioid overdoses. Its Resilient System uses non-invasive sensing to identify opioid-induced respiratory depression, sound an alarm, and deliver naloxone, with prototype testing underway in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. The company was created by Brad Holden, a former Marine Corps officer with medical-device experience, and software engineer Charlie Proctor to address overdoses that often happen when no bystander is present.
