Founded in 1987 by Chris and Eve Washburn after their two-year cruise aboard a Krogen 42, Washburn’s Boat Yard is a full-service marine repair facility in Solomons serving boats on the Chesapeake. The yard is devoted exclusively to service rather than marina amenities, with career technicians, two 75-metric-ton travelifts, and a 30-ton crane supporting work from repairs to repowering. Eric Skow, who joined in 2002 after a career at Eastman Kodak, has been the sole owner since 2019.

Miller's Island Propeller, IncA family-owned marine manufacturer and service shop in Sparrows Point, Maryland, Miller's Island Propeller makes and reconditions boat propellers while supplying the underwater hardware and shafting that keep vessels moving. Founded in 1971 as a foundry and propeller reconditioner, the company now operates a 55,000-square-foot manufacturing and warehouse facility with rail service. James, Back Creek Canvas makes custom marine canvas and upholstery for boats around Annapolis and the Chesapeake Bay. Based at Horn Point Harbor Marina, the shop draws on James’s sailing experience and training with certified Master Fabric Craftsmen to build canvas with clean finishes designed to withstand the elements.
