Founded by Tamara Baker in 2000 after her own medical journey, We Care Blankets makes handcrafted blankets for children undergoing cancer treatment and other serious illnesses. The not-for-profit organization grew from Baker’s solo effort into a volunteer network whose blankets are wrapped and delivered to hospitals across the United States and, more recently, to a children’s hospital in Israel. Its regular wrap events bring together community crafters and volunteers to turn handmade gifts into comfort for young patients and their families.

Operation Warm, IncFounded in 1998 after Dick Sanford saw children waiting for a school bus without coats on a freezing day, Operation Warm is a national nonprofit built around the belief that new clothing can restore a child’s confidence as well as provide basic protection. LuxCareFounded by fashion and costume designer Paloma Soledad, LuxCare makes adaptive “wellness fashion” for people living through cancer treatment, recovery, and beyond. Soledad’s own experience as a three-time Stage IV cancer thriver informs clothing that accommodates changing bodies while retaining the feel of everyday style, from port-access tops to soft headscarves.
