Founded in 1993 in Queens, Woodside Press is a traditional letterpress studio that prints and binds finely crafted work from its Brooklyn Navy Yard shop. Its distinctive strength is a large working collection of handset type alongside two Linotype machines and a Ludlow caster, making it one of New York City’s notable homes for hot-metal typography. The studio has produced work for institutions including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Juilliard, and MoMA, whose 2004 logo was based on its handset metal type.
