About

Since Hassan Halaby opened a neighborhood bakery on Brooklyn’s Atlantic Avenue in 1930, Damascus Bakeries has grown into a third-generation bakery making pita and artisanal flatbreads. Edward and David Mafoud continue the family recipe while developing newer formats such as lavash roll-ups, and the company now sells its breads across all 50 states and internationally. Its facilities are SQF and Clean Label certified, with a focus on natural ingredients and clean baking environments.
