Since its formation in 2000, SuperPower Inc. has developed and commercially manufactured second-generation high-temperature superconducting tape and REBCO wires in Glenville, New York. Its products carry current with essentially zero resistance under cryogenic conditions, supporting demanding work in high-field magnets, power systems, fusion research and other advanced applications. SuperPower became a wholly owned subsidiary of Furukawa Electric in 2012 and now combines its HTS expertise with Furukawa’s long history in superconducting materials.
