Since 1982, Terps Racing has been a University of Maryland student-run program that designs, builds, tests and races formula-style and Baja off-road vehicles for collegiate competitions. More than 120 students work across its internal-combustion, electric and Baja teams, gaining hands-on experience in a dedicated machine shop and assembly space. Its newest branch, Formula EV, founded in 2021, develops a fully electric racecar with a team-built battery pack and motor.
